A client in the transportation industry needed a quality steel fabrication service to construct three interstate highway barriers per year. This product was to be used in conjunction with existing concrete barriers, which would allow access of emergency vehicles. The barrier required battery operated electric gates that had to be strong enough to withstand the impact of an automobile or truck. They also had to meet Federal Highway standards, and be durable enough to last for years exposed to the elements. The dimensional requirement would be 50″ in height, 18′ long, and 12″ thick.
We began by saw cutting the raw materials to size, in this case we used A992 carbon steel. The door components and mounts where formed and machined in our facility. Assembly consisted of fitting up all of the parts and MIG welding to tolerances of 1/8″. Once completed, the finished assembly was cleaned and painted.
